New Zealand's Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, said the gunman meant to continue his attack if he hadn't been stopped.

Tarrant, a 28-year-old Australian citizen, appeared in a Christchurch District Court Saturday.

Two other people were in custody and police said they were seeking to understand whether they were involved in any way.

As well as speaking with the families of the dead, the Prime Minister spoke to survivors from the attack. After the visit, Ardern travelled to a hospital at which 39 people are being treated from injuries.

Officials in New Zealand will be probing whether those behind deadly mass shootings at two mosques in Christchurch should have been on the radar of authorities, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Friday.

The atrocities took place in Masjid Al Noor mosque, where at least 41 people were killed and another seven were shot dead inside the suburban Linwood Masjid Mosque.

"It brings actually a feeling of fear that we hope we can actually overcome and try to avoid by spreading more awareness, by educating our community and the larger community that these things shouldn't be an obstacle in front of us to enjoy the freedom of religion", said Wahb.

Christchurch was the home of these victims.

Australian Man Appears In Court On Murder Charge After Christchurch Attack

Brenton Tarrant, in white prison suit, barefooted, handcuffed and flanked by two armed police officers, made a brief appearance in the court for about five minutes.

He has been charged with murder and sent to custody without plea until April 5, when he will be produced before the high court for a hearing, reported NZ Herald.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Saturday promised to reform the country's gun laws. They included a two-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, who is in critical condition. And we grieve with the rest of the world.

Condemning the terror strike, Ardern had described it as a "terror attack" and said it "appears to have been well planned". "I still don't know where he is", she said.

At first, Mr Taylor and his colleagues had no idea what was happening, initially believing the alarms, sirens and general panic sweeping through the New Zealand city were signs of another quake, similar to the 6.2-level seismic disaster that destroyed massive swathes of the city in 2011.

According to the Independent, the suspects are alleged to have called people attending Friday prayers at a near-by mosque "terrorists'". The shooter, who had a gun license acquired in November 2017, carried out the killings with two semi-automatic weapons, two shotguns and a lever-action firearm, Ardern said.

Fuller says Tarrant's family is from the northern New South Wales town of Grafton and contacted police after seeing media reports of the shootings that killed at least 49.

In signs police say show a well-planned attack, army personnel were also called in to dismantle explosive devices found in a stopped vehicle and officers were on Friday evening searching a house in Dunedin, 360 kilometres away, clearing nearby homes for safety.

While Korean tech giant Samsung also has its Tizen operating system, Tizen is instead used primarily on smartwatches and cameras. However, if Huawei did use its own operating system, such a move will only mark the start of the company's problems.
