Cyclone Idai batters Mozambique coastal city, several injured

After much damage and displacement, Cyclone Idai has finally made a landfall at late night and early morning of Friday in Mozambique near the port of Beira, wherein the latitude and longitude were 19.6°S and 34.8°E. "Cyclone Idai is expected to be the largest the area will see in a decade".
"The average max wind speed around the depression is 15 knots (100km/h)", she added.
Paul Herbst of IPSS said: "The teams will be supported by Lenmed Maputo Private Hospital in the country today, thereafter heading north to Beira where the cyclone's epicenter will reach land closer to the weekend".

The group has said it was ready to deploy 70 staff, along with 4x4 vehicles, boats, and jetskis to help with rescue efforts.
