Thousands of Australian Gmail users report problems with service

Google acknowledged the issue at 1.53pm and reported "error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior".

At 3:13 p.m., Google said that the problem with its staple Gmail and Google Drive services "should be resolved".

Many users across the globe are reporting issues while using Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and other Google services.

"We're investigating reports of an issue with Gmail", the message read.

Google has not yet put out an official statement confirming the issue, or commented on how long the outage would last.

The company posted an update at 3.44pm acknowledging the outage and have told customers they are working to rectifying the issue.

Down Detector's live outage map is showing that some of the worst hit countries at the present time include Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan and the United States. "Check your network and try again".
