Following the Lion Air crash, it took four days from the discovery of the flight data recorder for Indonesia's National Transportation Safety Committee to reveal that the plane had a malfunctioning air speed indicator for its last four flights, and at the time of the crash.

The tragedy on Sunday had a wider impact because the UN staffers-enroute from Addis Ababa to Nairobi for the Fourth UN Environment Assembly March 11-15-were from 12 UN agencies and peacekeeping missions, plus representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs).

Despite reassurances in the USA that the 737 Max is safe, concerns have mounted. "However, this investigation has just begun and to date we have not been provided data to draw any conclusions or take any actions". And I have the highest regard for them.

According to Opher Dach, consul of Israel's embassy in Ethiopia, the team hopes to join the crash site on Tuesday. "So they cooperate very closely".

But much more about Sunday's crash remains unclear - including crucial questions over what caused the jet to go down.

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg has spoken directly to Trump about the crash, according to Reuters, which notes that the two businessmen have also spoken several times in the past - including negotiations over the price of the new Air Force One.

The focus on Boeing has also been intense.

Pressure was growing in the U.S. for regulators to act, with American and Canadian carriers now virtually alone in operating 737 Max flights, the Guardian reported.

Buffalo Bills set to sign free agent WR John Brown
Prior to Baltimore, Brown spent the first four seasons of his National Football League career with the Arizona Cardinals. If Brown goes to Buffalo, he'll pair up with Josh Allen and his big arm on what will presumably be a lot of deep balls.

He was supposed to board the plane, but he reached the departure gate just two minutes after it was closed.

"Running to catch flight ER 302 Addis Ababa - Nairobi..."

Canada has no plans to ground 737 MAX aircraft but is ready to act to suspend flights if new information emerges indicating there is a problem, Transport Minister Marc Garneau said.

On Monday evening, the FAA issued a notice declaring the plane airworthy.

Trump did not refer to Boeing or recent accidents, but his comments echoed an automation debate that partially lies at the center of an investigation into October's Lion Air crash in Indonesia.

If a certified aircraft has outstanding airworthiness directives that have not been complied with, the aircraft is not considered airworthy.

"He was having difficulties with the flight control of the airplane, so he asked to return back to base", he said.

The process will be complicated because the passengers came from more than 30 countries and Ethiopia has limited forensic capabilities, the expert added, asking not to be named.
