  • Update Utah Jazz Ban Fan Who Disrespected Russell Westbrook

A visibly angry Westbrook was caught on camera hurling expletives directed at Keisel, telling him that he was going to "f*** up" him and his wife. "I'll f- you up!"' I swear to God.

"I swear to God, I'll f-- you up. You and your wife", he told two fans in the stands. "You think I'm playing".

Westbrook looked back at the action on the court for a second before turning back to have another round at Keisel.

"I promise you, everything I love", Westbrook said. Everything I love, I promise you. I don't think it's fair to the players - not just to me, but I don't think it's fair to the players.

In the days after that incident, several players came out in support of Westbrook, including Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green.

"For me, that's just completely disrespectful, to me. There are a lot of great fans around the world that like to come to the game to enjoy the game, [and] there are people who come to the game to say mean and disrespectful things about me and my family".

"I think it's something that needs to be brought up".

Westbrook has testy encounter with fans in Utah

Russell Westbrook says the comment from the Jazz fan that set him off was: "Get down on your knees like you're used to". Shane revealed. "He turned to me and he was like - that's heat, that's heat!"

Keisel took issue with Westbrook threatening his wife. "Then they made their run, Dennis Schroder got hot; we bounced back, but unfortunately it wasn't enough", said Mitchell. Westbrook claimed the man told him to, "Get down on your knees like you're used to".

The Jazz say that the fan was banned for "excessive and derogatory verbal abuse" during the game. That didn't happen in this case; Keisel was allowed to remain in his seat and was even interviewed about the altercation at the arena by members of the Salt Lake media.

The Cavaliers identified the fan, and at the time, indefinitely banned the individual from all events at Quicken Loans Arena for at least a year.

The loss was Utah's third in its last four games, and dropped the team to 37-29 on the season.

Westbrook was on the bench and stood when he heard what the fans said.

"I sat on the baseline the other night when they played Utah and some things were coming out of the crowd that I was like 'Holy crap, it's insane, '" he said. It's truly disrespectful. (They) talk about your families, your kids. We all have a responsibility to respect the game of basketball and, more importantly, each other as human beings. Keisel said his wife, Jennifer Huff, didn't participate in the exchange. No one is held accountable for their actions except for us. Heckling of opposing teams and players is commonplace in every arena across the Association, but this is different.
