  • Apple just sent out invites to a March 25 event where it's expected to unveil its video-streaming service

The event should more or less focus entirely on the company's upcoming online services. This comes after BuzzFeed first reported back in February that the Cupertino tech giant is slated to unveil its rumored news service on the same date in March.

Apple today sent out invites for a special event on Monday, March 25 at Steve Jobs Theater, where it is widely expected to announce both a subscription-based Apple News service and a Netflix-like streaming video service. The new service will give Apple device owners free access to the company's new original content, and it will also come with a Channels system that allows users to subscribe to platforms like HBO via an additional subscription.

A report by The Wall Street Journal had indicated that Apple was going through a rough patch with respect to negotiations as it was reported to demand 50 percent revenue from the service. In addition to that, it was also rumoured that Apple will be announcing its TV streaming service through this event which is apt given the teaser.

Japanese woman is world's oldest living person at 116
And BBC News reported that when Tanaka was asked during the event what her favorite memory was, she responded: "This right now". Kane Tanaka was born on 2 January 1903, the same year the Wright brothers launched humanity's first powered flight.

Apple, which recently stopped disclosing iPhone unit sales data, is increasingly trying to turn investors toward the long-term value of its services ecosystem.

Are you excited about Apple's March 25th event?

The magazine subscription service will be integrated into the existing Apple News app and is based on the company's acquisition of Texture a year ago. We'll have wait to see whether countries outside of the U.S. will get the full suite of shows - new content launches tend to get a bit complicated when it comes to worldwide rights.
