Last year, Google opened up its Android P Beta Program to seven more devices other than its own Nexus or Pixel series.

First spotted by XDA-Developers' Mishaal Rahman, the bug tracker for the Android Q Beta has just been unveiled to the public. During an episode of the Android Developers Backstage podcast, he revealed that "the number is bigger for the upcoming Android release", referring to the number of smartphone makers participating in the Android Q beta programme. This move from Google including device manufacturers other than Google is indeed welcoming, and we can expect more and more devices running on the latest Android right from the announcement at Google I/O. Last year, seven OEMs (apart from Google) offered to help Google test Android Pie on their devices: Essential Phone, Nokia 7 Plus, OnePlus 6, Oppo R15 Pro, Sony Xperia XZ2, Vivo X21, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. The new report suggests that for the next Android version aka Android Q, Google is working on collaborating with more and more OEMs to have them run Android Q Beta update. And for the upcoming Google I/O this year, Illiyan has revealed the number of OEMs this year is certainly bigger, and he's feeling happy about it.

"Last year, We had released the new version of Android some time in August". At Google I/O previous year, it not only announced the start of Android P beta testing, it also announced that seven OEM phones were officially getting it as well. The first Android P developer preview was released in March, with the second Android P developer preview, known as Android P Beta, released at Google I/O in May previous year and featuring several OEMs in the beta programme. "But the trend is positive and strong, and I am very happy about this".
