  • US and China closer to rubberstamp a trade deal by March 27th

Dates for a summit between President Donald Trump and counterpart Xi Jinping have yet to be agreed, according to officials from both countries who declined to be named.

"Of particular concern are reports of USA companies that may be contributing to Beijing's persecution of Uighurs through their support or commercial ties to Hikvision and Dahua - two Chinese tech giants that have profited from the surge of security spending in Xinjiang", the lawmakers said.

Beijing is offering to lower tariffs and other restrictions on American farm, chemical, auto, and other products, . while Washington is considering removing most, if not all tariffs placed on Chinese products since a year ago.

The paper quoted analysts as saying that the failure of Trump's recent summit talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Hanoi could affect the trade talks in one of two opposite ways. -China trade deal is forming.

Asked during a congressional hearing last week whether a deal would see a lifting of US tariffs, Robert Lighthizer, the China hawk now leading the talks with Beijing, would say only that was China's desire.

A deal would be welcomed by financial markets, which have suffered through the often-rancorous trade conflict between the world's two largest economic powers.

Natural gas: "China's state-owned China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., known as Sinopec, would agree to buy $18 billion of liquefied natural gas from Cheniere".
