Saudi named in report on Khashoggi murder becomes UAE envoy

  • Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Calls Jamal Khashoggi Murder A 'Mistake'

Though Saudi Arabia remains India's top crude oil supplier, the two countries have expanded ties beyond energy, and their governments have agreed to build a strategic partnership, the foreign ministry said. "Their investment fund is over $1 trillion, so we want just a fraction of that", said a second Pakistani minister, who did not wish to be named. The prosecutor has said that the authorities were seeking the death penalty for five of the 11 suspects.

Jubeir said the public prosecutor responsible for the case had sought evidence from Turkey but had received no response. His claim, however, undermined the efforts of the country to reveal the case.

Saudi officials have not publicly released the names of any of the people they say have been charged, or are being investigated in relation to Khashoggi's murder.

Saudi Arabia has also announced plans for a $10 billion refinery and petrochemical complex at the coastal city of Gwadar, where China is building a port as part of its vast Belt and Road initiative.

So far no date has been given for the visit of the Crown Prince but he is expected to arrive on a two-day trip before the end of this week.

However, the tempo of their play dropped significantly following the restart and they were deservedly punished. As I said on BBC Radio 5 live before the PSG game, whatever happens in this tie does not change any of that.

Late last week, Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel al-Jubeir, told reporters in Washington that people should await the results of the trial of the suspects as well as the end of an ongoing investigation before drawing any conclusions about the case. It is believed that 80 containers will be shipped to Islamabad for the crown prince and his entourage's stay. "This was not a government-sanctioned operation". The investigation was requested under provisions of the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act.

The remarks came after US President Donald Trump missed a Congress deadline to determine who ordered Mr Khashoggi's assassination amid new revelations that Saudi Arabia's crown prince spoke of going after the writer "with a bullet".

On October 10, 2018, a bipartisan group of USA senators triggered the terms of the Global Magnitsky Act, requiring the president to investigate and determine if a foreign person is responsible for Khashoggi's death within 120 days.

Mr. Al Jubeir called USA criticism of Saudi leadership "a red line". Mr Aldakhil denied the allegation in a statement to the newspaper.

Turki Aldakhil, who was previously general manager of Al Arabiya television, was sworn in by King Salman along with other new ambassadors, state-run SPA news agency reported.
