  • BBC News: Dramatic moment BBC cameraman ATTACKED during Trump rally - 'F*** the media'

A man is restrained after he began shoving members of the media during a rally Monday for President Trump in El Paso.

A Trump supporter, sporting a MAGA cap, attacked a BBC cameraman while at the USA president's campaign rally in El Paso, Texas.

Skeans, the cameraman, told BBC News that he did not see the Trump supporter coming at him but felt a "very hard shove" that nearly knocked him down.

The video, filmed by a cameraman for the BBC, shows the moment that the Trump supporter, later said by a campaign official to have been drunk, attacked the press corps during a frenetic rally.

"Fortunately our cameraman is fine, he is made of stern stuff", O'Donoghue told the "Today" program on BBC Radio 4.

In the footage, the camera which is focused on Mr Trump is jolted away. Seconds later, when the picture was restored, a man in a red "Make America Great Again" hat could be seen being restrained as he shouted, "f-- the media!" As he is led away, he angrily chants: "Fuck the media, fuck the media".

Mr O'Donoghue added that he had been "spat at before".

Palestinian teens killed by Israeli fire in border clashes - Gaza Health Ministry
The enclave's health ministry says more than 220 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops at the protests. In the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, meanwhile, thousands of Palestinians attended the funerals of the teenagers.

Some Republicans have called on Trump to stop his attacks on the media. The BBC says it is "clearly unacceptable for any of our staff to be attacked for doing their job".

This isn't the first time Trump supporters have become violent towards news crew at a Trump rally.

After Trump steadily used the "enemy of the people" phrase to describe the media last summer, he met with New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger to discuss the invective.

He said security removed the man who jumped onto the media platform.

Mr Skeans said the "very hard shove" came from his blindside.

CNN meanwhile filmed supporters of Mr Trump yelling abuse and swearing at reporters covering a rally in Florida a year ago. "The arena holds 8,000 and, thank you fire department, they got in about 10 [thousand]", he said.

But according to reports, a spokesman for El Paso fire department said the president's claim was incorrect, and that 6,500 people were allowed inside - the building's capacity. "But if you really want to see something, go outside".
