The classically trained veteran singer-songwriter, who has been recognised on the pop charts and on the opera stage, beat nine other contenders to be chosen as Australia'sEurovision representative.
She came out on top with a total of 135 points, 87 points from the public and 48 points from the jury of industry experts.
Miller-Heidke said: "I'm totally overwhelmed!"
Eurovision - Australia Decides creative director Paul Clarke said "Eurovision will love" Miller-Heidke.
The 21-year-old singer from Hartlepool, who also won All Together Now in 2014, was crowned the victor of Eurovision: You Decide and will be singing the track Bigger Than Us at the annual TV song competition.
