Paris police said a demonstrator lost four fingers when riot officers stopped protesters from storming the National Assembly.

An injured policeman in riot gear is given help during a demonstration by the yellow vests in Paris on February 9, 2019.

In its 13th straight week, protesters again took to the streets of Paris and southern Frence cities to pressure President Emmanuel Macron to increase wages and lower taxes, the New York Times reported.

Earlier on Saturday, activists in Latvia staged a picket in front of the French embassy in Riga, the capital of the small Baltic EU country, to support the yellow vest movement and urge Latvians to demand higher living standards.

Masked men threw projectiles at police, who responded with tear gas and stun grenades.

Protesters set several garbage cans and an anti-terrorism vehicle near the Eiffel tower on fire, an action Christophe Castaner, the French interior minister, called in a tweet indignant and disgusting.

Police said 31 demonstrators had been arrested Saturday as scuffles broke out between protesters and police.

Star of The Walking Dead to walk away from the show
Add to that her burgeoning playwriting career, where she has been winning awards and acclaim. Her loss will be a big blow to the show's creative plans. "We really want her to stay".

"It goes back to the fact that there are some profits but they're always to the same people".

Royer said the victim was a yellow jacket photographer taking pictures of people trying to break down the barriers protecting the entrance to the National Assembly.

"The governments of France and Italy have their differences", he said.

"We mustn't give up", said pensioner Serge Mairesse, from Aubervilliers, just outside Paris.

Interior ministry figures put the turnout across France at 51,400, of whom 4,000 marched in Paris, slightly down on the previous week's figures.

Leaders of the yellow vest movement have denounced the police for injuring protesters, but have also struggled to contain violence from their own lines.

Politicians came together to condemn the arson attack on the home of Richard Ferrand, a close ally of Mr Macron, in Motreff, Brittany.
