Just hours ago we got the bad news that 185-pound reigning champion Robert Whittaker forced to withdraw from his title fight with Kelvin Gastelum due to hernia issue.

Whittaker, 28, was forced to pull out of a title defense in February 2018 as a result of injury - representatives for Whittaker have not responded to requests for comment. "I was told it was not any weight-cutting related issue or anything like that".

Kelvin Gastelum is trying to put a positive spin on losing his chance to fight for the middleweight title at UFC 234.

UFC 234 takes place from Melbourne, Australia and the Rod Laver Arena.

Phillies land elite catcher J.T. Realmuto in blockbuster trade
The Phillies sent catcher Jorge Alfaro and pitching prospects Sixto Sanchez and Will Stewart to Miami. Philadelphia was nearing the finish line in a deal with the Marlins for catcher J.T.

ESPN's Brett Okamoto reported the news, citing UFC chief Dana White. A lightweight clash between Lando Vannata and Marcos Rosa Mariano that was originally scheduled for the Fight Pass prelims has been moved to the pay-per-view lineup.

The hype surrounding the Adesanya-Silva fight has been arguably just as big as the Whittaker-Gastelum showdown, if not bigger.

With next to no time to find a replacement for Whittaker all the way out in Australia, UFC 234 turned to its old superstar in Silva to headline the event.

Last year, he was scheduled to defend the title against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221, but he was forced out weeks before the event due to a staph infection that went mistreated.
