Prince Philip made the decision "after careful consideration" following his vehicle crash last month in which a 45-year-old woman suffered a broken wrist.

Buckingham Palace says Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth, has voluntarily surrendered his licence "after careful consideration".

Witnesses revealed Philip was shaking and pleading "get me out" after his Land Rover crashed while he was out driving alone without a protection officer.

Prince Philip has made a decision to stop driving at the age of 97, less than a month after he was involved in a collision that left two women injured.

The crash investigation file is now being considered by the Crown Prosecution Service, but Fairweather worries that Prince Philip's royal status will influence the outcome.

He escaped injury, but Emma Fairweather, a passenger in the Kia, broke her wrist.

James Brookes, of the Royal Central news site, said Philip was a "strong-willed" individual who was probably not swayed by the public backlash when deciding to hang up his key.

Philip was driving a Range Rover on January 17, when his vehicle and a Kia collided close to the Sandringham Estate.

As some Reddit users have pointed out, the aforementioned lines may have been left in the game from Titanfall 2's code. After all, most other Battle Royale games like Blackout and Fortnite allow you to play alone without a squad.

Buckingham Palace said that he surrendered his licence on Saturday.

After complaining of a "lack of communication" from Prince Philip, the passenger received a letter from the Duke with an apology for the incident.

The sun was blamed for hindering his vision and he wrote he was "very contrite about the consequences" of the collision.

Police issued Philip with "suitable words of advice" and said "any appropriate action" would be taken if necessary.

"I would like you to know how very sorry I am for my part in the accident", Philip wrote in the letter, which was obtained by the UK's Sunday Mirror newspaper.

Wearing tinted glasses, he was photographed at the wheel of a replacement Land Rover while not wearing a seatbelt in the ensuing days.

Philip, who also held a pilot's license, stopped flying at age 76, but continued to drive for more than two decades - even chauffeuring President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama in 2016, the year before he retired from public duties.
