  • Microsoft introduced background blur in Skype video calls

You may also do that by using the video call button available inside the Skype services. This feature allows remote workers and employees who work from home to keep their background and location more private during a conference call, subtly blurring the space behind them.

Background blur feature for Skype is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI).

The feature was first introduced in the company's Teams collaboration app, and it's finally made its way to Skype.

Skype background blur made possible with AI
Skype can now blur your background, so no one can tell your life is a shambles

All desktop and laptop users can blur the background by hovering on the option provided at the bottom of the screen during a video call. And that's M$'s Big Skype is watching YOU cloud AI analysis on the way to the three letter agencies including those IRS agents knocking on your door to seize your gaming rig to pay back taxes. As such, if you've got confidential information - say, a business plan on a whiteboard - or anything else damning lingering in the background, it'd probably be best to move it (or change locations) before hopping on an important call. Skype keeping in view that it was lagging behind, finally realized that it needs to bring something new to its app to remain its users base which was previously shifted to the newly born apps.

Skype introduced the same background blur functionality as it has used in Microsoft Teams. It is not just the speaker's face that is in focus, but also their hair, hands and arms, thus creating a smooth body outline and "making a call with background blur just as relaxed and easy as a regular video call".

Although this feature sounds wonderful, Skype has also posted a disclaimer at the bottom stating that they can not guarantee that the background will always be blurred. Other than that, you'll have to make the update to continue.
