Haas only debuted in Formula One three years ago, claiming eighth-place finishes in the constructors' championship in their first two seasons. "While 2018 delivered our best season-to-date, the year showed, sometimes sharply, that we still have areas to improve on as a team".

The American-owned outfit have signed a deal with British-based Rich Energy, an energy drink start-up depicted by entrepreneur frontman William Storey as a "David ready to take on the Goliath of the industry".

Steiner added: "I have confidence again we have got a solid auto and I don't see anything bad coming for us".

While Steiner acknowledged the team remained inconsistent in 2018, their car's pace was such that they regularly were the fourth-fastest team behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.

Haas's experienced French driver Romain Grosjean, who raced and stood on the podium for the most recent Lotus team, welcomed the new paint job.

"I really don't expect us to take a step back, I think we're going to continue to grow".

"I doubt that we will be serious contenders for podium positions straight away. but previous year we finished P4, P5 a couple of times, so it doesn't take a lot".

"We wanted to get up there with the competitive teams, and now we need to hold onto it", said the Dane. "We're delighted to work with Haas and we want to do it on a very long-term basis".

"I want to be the best and I feel like I can do that, but proving it is hard in Formula 1 if you don't have the best vehicle".

Why Haas for Rich Energy? In addition to the colour scheme, the F1 team has also been renamed as Rich Energy Haas F1 team for the upcoming season.

They're run in a very, very unpretentious fashion, they're proper racers, Gene Haas is a wonderful businessman who is approaching motor racing in the right way, [they have a ] brilliant team principal and they've got two drivers with personality, which I think is superb". Ahead of next months season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
