The New York Knicks have waived center Enes Kanter after the National Basketball Association trade deadline, the team announced on Thursday.
The trade deadline passed without action on Kanter. He turns 27 in May.

With the top contenders in the East making some big moves, this would be a huge pickup for the Celtics if they can sign Kanter if the Knicks and him do, indeed pursue a buyout. Over that span, the Raps have been one of the Eastern Conference powers winning over 50 games three times and appearing in the Conference Finals once.
Kanter released a statement thanking the Knicks and the team's fans for his time in NY.

ESPNreported the Boston Celtics, who found Greg Monroe as a midseason pickup past year, could be a prime landing spot for Kanter given their depth issues at center caused by injuries.
