I picked up iPhone A and called iPhone B.

Here's how it works: an iPhone user calls someone else on FaceTime, taps Add Person and adds their own phone number.

God knows how, but someone in the Twitterverse discovered a way to listen through the phone of another user of Apple's FaceTime service even if that person doesn't answer a call. This will cause the microphone of the person you are calling to turn on and allow the caller to listen to what is happening in the room.

In brief You might want to disable FaceTime on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac until Apple patches this bonkers bug.

Though the bug still alerts the recipient to the call (there's no way to stop it from ringing), that person has no way of knowing that the caller can hear what they're saying.

As far as security flaws go, this one is particularly serious, especially given the emphasis has Apple placed on privacy recently when it comes to its devices and operating systems.

Taliban talks offer glimmer of hope for peace
NATO's combat troops left Afghanistan at the end of 2014, but thousands remain in training, support and counter-terrorism roles. The Trump administration's strategy has been to put pressure on the Taliban to negotiate with the Afghan government.

The bug emerged on Data Privacy Day when Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook called for "action and reform for vital privacy protections".

The bug is believed to affect any pair of iOS devices running iOS 12.1 or later.

The FaceTime bug also exists with calls from iPhones to iPads and Mac laptops.

In a statement to BuzzFeed News, a representative from Apple said that the company is "aware of this issue and we have identified a fix that will be released in a software update later this week". You can disable FaceTime on your iPhone by heading to Settings and toggle the FaceTime icon to gray.

The recipient was not able to see or hear the FaceTime caller.
