The Real Science Behind Trump's Climate Change Tweet

  • NOAA denies climate change tweet was directed at Trump

In the tweet, Trump said "In the attractive Midwest, windchill temperatures are reaching minus 60 degrees, the coldest ever recorded. And in fact, "Global Waming" is making these extreme cold outbreaks more rare, exactly as we expected", said Grist staff writer Eric Holthaus.

"Dear sir, You, once again, confuse weather and climate".

The Democrat responded by saying: "Only a moron would not understand global warming causes huge temperature swings".

Parts of the USA are indeed facing some of the coldest temperatures the country's seen in a generation.

Weather is what happens today.

Weather refers to the atmospheric conditions at a particular place and time.

Trump has always denied that there is something called climate change of global warming and also made the United States pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement in 2017, months after entering the White House. Chris Gloninger, a meteorologist from NBC10 Boston, pointed out in a pair of tweets that climate and weather are not synonymous, and "climate change means EXTREME weather, which includes record cold weather as well".

'Most hard week in my 40yr career'
Arsenal head coach Unai Emery: "Our focus now is very clear: the Premier League ". Mearns believes there is still a "very good chance" of finding the plane.

"Winter storms don't prove that global warming isn't happening", the NOAA tweet said, linking to a 2015 article on Climate.gov which explains that "warmer air temperatures fuel more evaporation, leading to a wetter atmosphere, which increases rain or snow totals".

"Greetings, The rest of the world", he replied, followed by a map showing current world temperatures.

When you average these out over the planet, the hotter temps are tipping the scale.

Despite Trump's assertion, CNN reported that 2016 was the hottest year on record, and the third consecutive year to rank hotter than all previous years, according to the World Meteorological Organization.

The Earth's temperature has changed drastically in its 4.5 billion-year history, from the Huronian Ice Age that covered vast portions of the planet in ice for almost 300 million years, to a period about 50 million years ago, when scientists believe that palm trees and crocodiles were native above the Arctic Circle.

So that's why global warming is still a thing, even when it seems like the winter weather reigns supreme.
