Alphabet's Google on Tuesday unveiled the third edition of its Pixel smartphone, alongside a Google Home smart speaker with a display called Home Hub and a new tablet device, the Pixel Slate. It will run Android apps, but offer functionality that's closer to a desktop.

The Pixel 3 features two front-facing selfie cams, one with a wide angle to fit more people in.

The Pixel 3 also lets you track moving subjects better with a feature called motion autofocus. If you happen to spring for the optional $199 Pixel Slate Keyboard, you'll use the Slate in regular old Laptop mode when it's connected, which means interacting primarily with a cursor. This is so that if someone blinks, it doesn't ruin the picture, as you can still pick the "top" shot, hence the name. The camera automatically takes about three seconds of shots, at lower resolution, and will recommend an alternative.

The move into Japan pits Google against Apple Inc.'s iPhones, which make up half of the country's market share. Verizon will sell the Google Pixel 3 XL, but to use it on other carriers you need to purchase it through the Google Store online without getting the chance to hold one in your local carrier store. The company said it packs 184 percent more details and scenery into a frame than the iPhone XS. Google has kept thing simple with the design of Pixel 3 and it works. And because you'll be on O2, you'll also be able to enjoy the network's Priority rewards, too, for free coffees and first dibs on gig tickets. The Pixel 3 will have a new chip, called Titan, to store keys to the most sensitive information, including those needed to unlock the phone and descramble stored data.

A glass panel in the rear confirms that the wireless charging facility will be available on these phones. In celebration of the Marvel Cinematic Universe 10th anniversary, the Pixel includes lifelike, interactive AR stickers of heros like The Hulk and Iron Man.

"These characters are rendered to feel lifelike in that sense and they even interact with each other", Liza Ma, Google product manager said. The Galaxy Note 9 has a dual aperture camera and focuses on powerful hardware with capable software while Google focuses on processing its photos. The Pixel 3 XL is a flagship phone, though, with flagship pricing.

Jamal Khashoggi was once considered an insider to the Saudi establishment with links to the security and intelligence apparatus. She said the writer first visited the consulate on September 28 "despite being somewhat concerned that he could be in danger".

Also introduced was the new Google Home Hub, an Amazon Echo Show-like device that is a digital assistant with a screen.

Google showed off one especially impressive feature that its Assistant app can perform: Call screening, which can screen a phone call for you if you don't recognize a number.

Going forward, we're definitely going to see more Android phone makers offering different takes on gesture-based interfaces.

The Pixel Slate was the other highlight of Google's launch event.

Google initially sold the Pixel 2 and its larger sibling, Pixel 2 XL, in six countries, including the United States, Australia, Germany and India, after an unveiling in San Francisco. There's also a new "Home View" UI that gives a quick overview of your smart home hardware.
