Manchester United dismissed reports of Mourinho being axed as "nonsense" but stopped short of providing a public backing.

Manchester United's Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho gestures during the English Premier League football match between Manchester United and Newcastle at Old Trafford in Manchester, north west England, on October 6, 2018. But for younger people, I think it's a problem'.

The visitors' goals resulted from appalling defending from a United side that has looked weak in that department all season, both coming from Newcastle throw-ins which would have been dealt with by an organised defence.

Mourinho made it clear during pre-season that he wanted a new-centre back as he wasn't satisfied with those at his disposal.

However, goals from Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez completed a stunning turnaround and earned the Red Devils all three points. Not for the title, but Mourinho's tenure at Old Trafford.

The Sunday Mirror believe that his exit remains more a matter of when than if, as United have been in contact with Zinedine Zidane to ask him to turn down any offers of employment elsewhere, as they decide what to do with Mourinho.

McConnell says Kavanaugh fight will help Republicans in November
Some 164 people were arrested, most for demonstrating on the Capitol steps, 14 for disrupting the Senate's roll call vote. Christine Blasey Ford testified before the Senate that she was certain Kavanaugh was her alleged attacker.

"As a friend of mine was saying to me this morning, if tomorrow it rains in London it is my fault, " Mourinho said.

"He's on holiday mode", was how Lancombe described him recently, whilst his team also pointed out that Zidane is capitalising on his time away from the game.

"(Here) I'm losing 2-0 at home in a very important match, the fans were awesome, I'm grateful for that". If I could tell them please don't do it I would say that.

However, Shearer doesn't think the win fixes their issues and has urged the United board to back the boss in January.

But after being booed off at half-time, United avoided going five games without a win thanks to a thrilling second half fightback.

"Again, this was the goal, You see Newcastle, no one is on him, and that is the little awareness there, the quality, that is what he's got". Mourinho would nearly certainly turn the matter over to his expert legal team and the Mirror says that with "built-in loyalty payments, signing fees and other agreements on top of his £14.5m-a-year annual salary, that amounts to a whopping £29m".
