Cathay Pacific spells name wrong on airplane

Instead, it posted photos of the gaffe on social media, showing the plane with the words "Cathay Paciic" painted in bold letters across its side. She's going back to the shop!'

"The spacing is too on-point for a mishap", an engineer for Haeco, a sister company of the airline, told the South China Morning Post.

Hong Kong - Hong Kong's flagship airline Cathay Pacific caused a stir on social media Wednesday after accidentally spelling its name wrong on an airplane.

Travellers at Hong Kong International Airport spotted the sign-writer's mistake and contacted the airline immediately.

Cathay Pacific however, did not clarify whether or not the images are real or who are responsible for the supposed blunder.

Cathay Pacific was founded in 1946 and carried some 34.8 million passengers a year ago, along with its subsidiary airline, Cathay Dragon.
