The OnePlus TV will come with a premium flagship design like its smartphones, top of the line image quality, a revolutionary audio experience pairing it with multiple connectivity features.
OnePlus founder and CEO, Pete Lau, will lead the new division alongside the existing smartphone division, a company release said. Lau won't reveal the manufacturing details, but it's doing at least some of the work in-house. The "benefits of intelligent connectivity" are not limited to smartphones, however, prompting the firm to explore experiences within the user's home. Although details surrounding the tentative device are scarce, this is meant to bring "OnePlus' premium flagship design, image quality and audio experience to more seamlessly connect the home".
We're intrigued to see what the brand comes up with although, given the cut-throat competition in the telly market, we doubt the earliest models will be widely available outside of OnePlus' native China. However, the company is said to offer software updates for the next five years to make it smarter and connected with other devices. "It won't be something that's flawless and absolutely complete and revolutionary from the start", said Lau. But Lau says that OnePlus is building a premium, flagship TV, and promises it'll have specs to match. "With the development of AI technology, our imagination is endless".

The company on Monday announced that it had taken first steps to launch its first smart TV, called OnePlus TV. What would the OnePlus TV need to offer to make you buy it? As of now, the company is calling it the OnePlus TV. This does suggests that the OnePlus 6 successor could be the last jump in the company's smartphone business for a little while - although that's pure speculation on my part.
There's no concrete release date for the TV but Lau hopes OnePlus can bring it to market in 2019 and utilise software updates to improve it.
