In a series of Tweets Monday, the president continued to lash out at Woodward personally and his book's portrayal of Trump as a foul-mouthed and bumbling egotist. Which means that when he talks, you should listen.
According to the book, Trump told his national security aide that USA is losing in Afghanistan.
Cohn, the former White House chief economic advisor, and ex-staff secretary Porter are portrayed as having worked together to prevent a poorly informed Trump from making unsound and potentially disastrous decisions involving national security and the economy.
Earlier, Trump said he would pen his own book with the real story of his accomplishments.
Pence, on Sunday, called Woodward's book a "complete misunderstanding of how this White House works".
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders assured reporters Monday that the president is not now considering using lie detectors to figure out which senior administrative official wrote the anonymous op-ed, The Washington Examiner reported.
But Woodward says in his book there was an even more unsafe tweet that wasn't sent, declaring that Trump was withdrawing the family members of US troops from South Korea.
Colbert skips to the end of the book and discusses the part in which Woodward describes Trump and his lawyers practising how a potential Special Counsel Robert Mueller interview might go, with one of Trump's lawyers pretending to be Mueller.
But he said his book "is as carefully done as you can do an excavation of the reality of what goes on" in the Trump White House.

"If that person had come to me while I was working on this book or if it were someone I interviewed I would say, 'I need specifics.' The building blocks of journalism, of truth, are specific incidents".
The picture Bob Woodward paints in his new book of a White House, where top aides engage in "an administrative coup d'etat" to block President Donald Trump's most unsafe impulses, rarely includes his vice president. Democrats can't stand losing.
Woodward, on the other hand, has a very long track record of fact-based reporting.
Ivanka replied: "I'm not a staffer!"
Controversy on his credibility is not a new issue for Woodward. The Atlantic reported a year ago that within hours of the tape becoming public, Pence had made it clear to the Republican National Committee that he was ready to take Trump's place as the party's nominee.
"A third of my job was trying to react to some of the really risky ideas that he had and try to give him reasons to believe that maybe they weren't such good ideas", Porter told an associate, according to the book.
"It's not every day or every month or every year, or certainly every administration for that matter, that someone in the administration publishes a scathing criticism of the president of the United States", he said.
And at one point, the president agrees.
Then Woodward's book shook up the administration. In short: Woodward is not easily dismissed. The high interest "says people are anxious", Woodward said.
