  • Report: Les Moonves Stepping Down As Chief Executive Officer At CBS

The organization, Time's Up, released a statement today addressing the allegations against the CEO of CBS, Les Moonves, who's embroiled in a sexual misconduct controversy now.

Two articles published by The New Yorker magazine - on the same day that his departure was announced and on July 27 - detailed allegations from 12 different women against the 68-year-old television titan. I can only surmise they are surfacing now for the first time, decades later, as part of a concerted effort by others to destroy my name, my reputation, and my career.

The first story in The New Yorker contained allegations made by six women including graphic claims by actor Illeana Douglas that Moonves sexually assaulted her in his office.

Moonves had been in a corporate battle with Shari Redstone, controlling shareholder in CBS through her company National Amusements, which also controls Viacom. The Moonves-led CBS had opposed such a deal, leading to an open revolt in the board room and a legal battle to diminish Redstone's influence over the company.

National Amusements will appoint six new independent directors to the CBS board, including former Time Warner CEO Richard Parsons.

Sunday's report from Farrow also includes a new allegation against Fager. Women told journalist Ronan Farrow that Moonves physically intimidated them and sometimes retaliated if they rejected his advances to damage their careers.

"These allegations speak to a culture of toxic complicity at CBS, where the safety of women was continuously ignored to protect the careers of powerful men and the corporation", said a representative of Time's Up, a campaign against workplace sexual misconduct, in a statement on Sunday following the New Yorker's second story on Moonves.

News Five people dead after major incident in Bedford
Assistant Commissioner Paul Steel of the Metropolitan Region described the incident as a "heartbreaking tragedy". The bodies of two women and three children have been found at a home in the Perth inner city suburb of Bedford.

The donation, which will be made immediately, will come out of any severance that Moonves, one of the media world's highest paid CEOs, might eventually be given.

First reported by CNN's Brian Stetler on Sunday morning, Moonves' official announcement should come Sunday night or Monday morning, according to sources.

According to Deadline, the Moonves responded to the New Yorker report in a statement that claimed three of the six accusations were from women with whom he had consensual encounters. "He absolutely ruined my career", television executive Phyllis Golden-Gottlieb told Farrow, recounting a day in the '80s when she denied Moonves oral sex in his auto, prompting him to throw her "hard" against a wall a few days later.

Moonves worked as an executive for CBS for more than two decades, joining the network in 1995 as president of CBS Entertainment.

Times Up said in a statement on Sunday afternoon, "We will accept nothing less than full transparency of the investigation's findings, a commitment to real change across all levels of CBS management and no reward for Les Moonves". They reserved the right to get some back if it was confirmed that Moonves sexually harassed staffers. And I have never used my position to hinder the advancement or careers of women.

"What happened to me was a sexual assault, and then I was sacked for not participating", actress and writer Illeana Douglas told the magazine in the July report. "Our Board of Directors is conducting a thorough investigation of these matters, which is ongoing".

Farrow indicated that CBS has been aware of the new allegations for at least several days.
