  • Judge Paula T. Dow addresses the lawyers during a hearing on missing funds in the Johnny Bobbitt case in the Olde Historic Courthouse in Mt. Holly NJ Wednesday Sept. 5 2018. Mc Clure and D'Amico are accused of mismanaging the money raised for Bobbi

Police took away the couple's BMW and bags and boxes of unknown items from their home.

Authorities had executed a search warrant earlier Thursday at the Florence, New Jersey, home of D'Amico and McClure, who raised $400,000 online for Bobbitt. Dow has since asked the couple to appear in court Monday for depositions, saying she'd heard enough from their attorney: it was time they spoke for themselves, according to reporting from CNN. "Further updates will be provided as circumstances warrant".

In turn, she and her boyfriend, Mark D'Amico, started a GoFundMe page to raise money for Bobbitt that amassed more than $400,000. They said he stole from them and pawned some of their possessions for cash to feed his drug habit, allegations he denies.

A judge recently ordered the pair to hand over whatever money is left, but Bobbitt's lawyer Chris Fallon said Tuesday that all of it is gone.

"I am not going to allow you to be their voice anymore", said Dow, a former state attorney general, according to the Associated Press.

Last year, Bobbitt's story made national headlines after he gave his last $20 to Katelyn McClure after she ran out of gas while on Interstate 95 in Kensington, Pennsylvania. Bobbitt was homeless and that $20 was, so the tale goes, his last.

A judge ruled Wednesday that McClure and D'Amico, who say the money is now completely gone, must testify in court as to how they spent the funds raised in Bobbitt's name.

Off-duty Texas police officer shoots man after mistaking apartment as her own
Two women who live on the second floor near where the shooting happened said they heard a lot of noise late Thursday (local time). The unnamed Dallas officer entered the apartment after her shift on Thursday night and confronted the victim, a 26-year-old male.

D'Amico has said Bobbitt spent $25,000 in less than two weeks a year ago on drugs as well as paying for overdue legal bills and sending money to family.

Bobbitt's legal team said they want the couple's financial records, and for forensic accounting to be conducted, ABC7 Chicago reports.

GoFundMe said they will dole out the cash if their investigation finds the claims to be true. "GoFundMe's goal has always been to ensure Johnny gets support he deserves", Bobby Whithorne, director of North America Communications for GoFundMe, said in a statement Thursday.

"If he needed anything, he got it, there was never a question", D'Amico said. Their lawyer, Ernest E. Badway, said at the time that McClure and D'Amico would invoke their Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. Ultimately, the campaign raised more than $402,000 from more than 14,000 donors.

Last week, Bobbitt filed a lawsuit against the couple, alleging they withheld most of the money and spent it on vacations, gambling and a new BMW. Authorities are also taking a closer look at the couple that started a GoFundMe to benefit Johnny Bobbitt, trying to determine where the funds ultimately went. On September 6, they strengthened that position, noting that whatever the outcome of the court case they immediately plan to award Bobbitt the full amount of what he still hasn't received (the actual amount remains unclear). Counsel for Bobbitt did not respond to a request for comment.

During a recent appearance on NBC's "Megyn Kelly Today" show, D'Amico said there was well over $150,000 left of the donations. The couple and Bobbitt had previously told reporters last month that he received just several thousands of dollars, which Bobbitt admitted spending some on his opioid addiction.
