The pair reconnected on the newest season of Bachelor in Paradise but broke up on Monday evening's episode.

Season 23 of The Bachelor premieres midseason on ABC.

Colton Underwood has had quite a journey, competing for Becca Kufrin's heart on "The Bachelorette" before moving on to "Bachelor in Paradise", and now he's taking the lead, starring as "The Bachelor" himself.

"One thing I took pride in on both seasons was being true to who I am", Underwood said on Tuesday's Good Morning America broadcast, where the casting announcement was made.

"I'm very excited", Underwood told host Michael Strahan. "That's what I'm hoping for".

Following their split, Colton took to Instagram with nothing but kind words for his ex. "Thank you for teaching me even more about myself, and most importantly, for your friendship that I know will continue far beyond Paradise", Colton wrote.

He continued and said 'I would be all for it if I'm single after Paradise.' Well, it seems that now he's getting his chance.

However, Underwood isn't going to let this stop him from finding love.

When Colton appeared on Becca Kufrin's season of The Bachelorette, he revealed early on that he was a virgin and claimed he never brought a girl home to meet his parents.

Another called Colton "an opportunist" and many more said they would not be tuning into the new season in January.

Underwood, who is also known for once dating Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman, will be the first self-proclaimed νirgiп to be the Bachelor. The Tia-Colton storyline was very tedious and fans on social media mostly feel negatively toward Colton.

Colton's ABC biography for The Bachelorette said: 'Colton was named after the Indianapolis Colts which would turn out to be fitting for this lifelong football player.
