"I don't believe that e-cigarettes are more unsafe than cigarettes but I think we should have a cautious scepticism that they are as safe as we are being led to believe".

To arrive at this conclusion, researchers conducted a study which mimicked the act of vaping on extracted alveolar macrophages from lung tissue samples provided by the eight nonsmokers.

Researchers in the study warned vapers "against the widely held opinion that e-cigarettes are safe".

Hill said that while e-cigarettes might be safer than traditional ones, "less harmful doesn't mean safe".

"However, since electronic cigarettes are used nearly exclusively in the United Kingdom by current or former smokers, the key question is how this adverse effect compares with that of exposure to cigarette smoke".

They found that electronic cigarette vapor favors inflammation and at the same time suppresses the action of macrophages in the immune system, which play a vital role in the body's cleansing of bacteria, dust particles, allergens, and so on.

"E-Cigarettes contain nicotine which is addictive".

China stops approving new video, phone games
Revenue rose 30% to 73.68 billion yuan in the latest quarter, lagging 16 analysts' average estimate of 77.5 billion yuan. Online games are the single largest source of income for Tencent, accounting one-third of the internet giant's revenue.

Professor David Thickett, lead author from the University of Birmingham, said: 'In terms of cancer causing molecules in cigarette smoke, as opposed to cigarette vapour, there are certainly reduced numbers of carcinogens.

Earlier studies looked just at the effect on cells of the liquid that goes into an e-cigarette rather than at the vapourized chemicals.

"Importantly, exposure of macrophages to [e-cigarette vapor condensate] induced numerous same cellular and functional changes in [alveolar macrophage] function seen in cigarette smokers and patients with COPD [Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease]".

The results showed the vapor was much more harmful to cells than the e-cigarette fluid itself - and the more the lung cells were exposed to it, the more they were damaged.

Scientists have suggested vapour from e-cigs could harm lung cells and the effects could be similar to those seen in cigarette smokers. Britain's public health authorities are pushing smokers to switch to it as a safer choice; experts in the United States have warned that electronic cigarettes increase the risk of nicotine addiction among young people, while the World Health Organization has said uneasily that warming up electronic cigarettes can lead to the formation of toxic substances. It believed that e-cigarettes can help one overcome the habit of smoking and should be allowed on prescription.

You know how all the smokers switched from analogue cigarettes to new and supposedly healthier digital versions that need batteries and fluids purchasing from the weird shops that are popping up everywhere?
