Omarosa Manigault-Newman, a former top aide to President Donald Trump, shocked the political world on Sunday when she released a secret recording of White House chief of staff John Kelly firing her.

Former White House staffer and TV celebrity Omarosa Manigault Newman has released a recording of a private conversation with President Donald Trump after she was sacked.

Parts of her of the recordings were aired on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday as Manigault Newman promoted her new book, Unhinged.

Some security experts are concerned the recordings could have compromised national security.

During her interview on NBC, Manigault Newman claimed that during her firing she was locked in the White House situation room and denied access to counsel, which she said amounted to "false imprisonment".

"She wore that jacket to hurt Trump, setting off a controversy that he would have to fix, prolonging the conversation about the administration's insensitivity, ruining the trip itself, and trying to make sure that no one asked her to do something like that again", Manigault Newman wrote.

"I heard the tape", she said.

Donald Trump has labelled a former aide "wacky" after she released a tape in which the president expresses surprise over her dismissal by his chief of staff.

Mr. Trump hit back at the former "Apprentice" contestant's claims on Monday, saying she "begged" him for a job, in tears.

It looks like the President is not too sure what is going on here but was quick to slam Omarosa anyway.

Trump went ahead and insulted the woman's intelligence, and also stated that she begged him for a job.

All of this comes as Newman spruiks her new book, which is the latest in an ever-growing string of White House officials offering their own written accounts after leaving the administration.

"This is his pattern with African-Americans".

Immediately after the recording, an NBC News reporter says the network does not know what was said before or after the brief exchange - which means that the network did not check to see how heavily edited the audio was before running it on the air. He does not claim ignorance, at the time the hire, of her wackiness and lack of brains.

Omarosa Manigault-Newman is set to release her tell-all book this week, detailing her experience in the White House.

In all seriousness, Omarosa declared on PBS, "Every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump".

"Nobody even told me about it", said the president, according to the recording. When Gen. Kelly came on board he told me she was a loser & nothing but problems.

"Wacky Omarosa, who got fired 3 times on the Apprentice, now got fired for the last time", Trump said in a Twitter post on Monday. I just saw on the news that you're thinking about leaving?

It's unclear whether Trump really didn't know about the firing, or actually did and just wasn't courageous enough to admit it.

"I don't want to negotiate", Manigault Newman replied.

"She's certainly violating national security regulations, which I think have the force of law", Giiuliani said.

"They continue to deceive this nation by how mentally declined he is", she said, referring to Trump, "how hard it is for him to process complex information".

But the incident isn't in her book because she didn't hear the tape until after the book was published.
