  • It's Official The Date for Judge Kavanaugh's Supreme Court Hearing Has Been Set

Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the committee's chairman, announced the hearing for President Trump's nominee to replace former Justice Anthony Kennedy will start on September 4 and last three to four days. The questioning of Judge Kavanaugh will begin on Wednesday, September 5.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, released a statement on Friday calling Kavanaugh "exceptionally well-qualified" and "a fair arbiter of the law".

The deal, struck by Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and the Bush library, would only turn over records from Kavanaugh's two years as Senior Associate Counsel in the Bush White House, and not his three years as Staff Secretary and Assistant to the President, and would allow Bush's legal team to select which documents the public will see.

Kavanaugh once helped write the Starr Report, which outlined broad grounds on which to impeach President Clinton for his role in the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

White House spokesman Raj Shah praised Grassley for his review of Kavanaugh's career and the upcoming hearings. "It's time for the American people to hear directly from Judge Kavanaugh". "He's a mainstream judge".

Kavanaugh has amassed a solidly conservative judicial record as an appeals court judge for 12 years.

While Democrats have argued that Republicans are rushing the process for the lifetime appointment without proper vetting, Grassley took the opposite position on Friday, adding that at their current pace, "we have plenty of time to review the rest of emails and other records that we will receive from President Bush and the National Archives".

The man sounds calm at times and jokes with operators on the ground, who try to direct him to places to land. Mr Waldron said the plane at its lowest point was no more than 100ft (30.5m) above the water.

With support from Democrat Senator Joe Manchin and Republican Rand Paul, Kavanaugh's confirmation is all but certain.

The coalition letters, organized by Open the Government, come on the heels of similar letters from Schumer and Judiciary Committee Democrats.

Every day, Republican obstruction of Kavanaugh's record gets worse and worse.

Breitbart News' Ken Klukowski has pointed out that Kavanaugh's opinions have been in the public domain for years and Kavanaugh "returned the most comprehensive, bipartisan Senate questionnaire in the history of the Judiciary Committee".

This announcement comes after the committee has received the largest number of Executive Branch records ever for the consideration of a Supreme Court nominee.

That scheduling tees up the GOP to meet its goal of getting President Donald Trump's pick seated on the high court by the time its term begins in early October, barring unforeseen obstacles or a breakthrough by Democrats who are pushing to derail Kavanaugh's confirmation.
