  • Steve Jobs may have been a visionary but to his sometime estranged daughter he was far from perfect

Born in 1989, Lisa Brennan-Jobs is the daughter of Steve Jobs and Chrisann Brennan, although Jobs refused to admit that for a number of years and Chrisann even had to go so far as to demand a paternity test in order to force Jobs to pay child support for his daughter.

While Lisa and her mother struggled, Steve Jobs was at the top of his game, making millions off the company he had founded.

Cook's hiring may have been one of the best things Jobs did for Apple.

Lisa Brennan-Jobs - the eldest daughter of late Apple co-founder and former CEO, Steve Jobs - is less than a month away from releasing her anticipated memoir. She wrote a book adaptation for Vanity Fair where she discusses some of her experiences.

After a long pause, her father finally admitted it was named for his daughter, and the truth helped Brennan-Jobs feel "a new power". Bono asked him about the origins of the name.

Stating that she had only ever wanted to have a normal relationship with her father, Lisa said Jobs was often emotionally distant, brutally honest and not empathetic.

"You're not getting anything", he told her.

Teetotalers at as much risk of dementia as excessive drinkers
The subjects were then monitored for a further 23 years after which almost 400 cases of dementia were identified. What we do know is that excessive drinking is a proven cause of liver disease and cancers.

But despite his coldness, the little girl was fascinated by her "multi-millionaire" dad and clung to the belief he had named the "Lisa" computer after her.

Years later, when Ms Brennan-Jobs was offered a rare invitation to join a family vacation with Jobs, she heard a different answer. She once asked her father if the computer was named after her.

She also recalled believing that her father replaced his Porsche every time it had a scratch and asking whether she could have one when he got rid of it. "You understand? Nothing. You're getting nothing'". 'You understand? Nothing. You're getting nothing.' Did he mean about the auto, something else, bigger? "I had made a awful mistake and he'd recoiled". Spoiler alert - though things got better between, there was no grand reconciliation (Steve died at age 56 on October 5, 2011 after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.) "For him, I was a blot on a spectacular ascent, as our story did not fit with the narrative of greatness and virtue he might have wanted for himself. My existence ruined his streak", she wrote. "I didn't know. His voice hurt - sharp, in my chest".

Brennan-Jobs said he replied: "You're not getting anything".

In an excerpt of her upcoming book entitled, "Small Fry", published in Vanity Fair, Brennan-Jobs states how her father drove around in expensive cars while her mother cleaned houses for a living.

Jobs later had 3 children with his wife Laurene Powell.
