A man returned to his New Jersey home Monday night to find both his wife and her lover dead in the garage, after the pair apparently died of carbon monoxide poisoning while having sex, law enforcement sources tell NBC 4 NY.

Kahali Johnson found his wife, Tameka Hargrave, 39, and the 56-year-old mechanic, who was not identified, dead on Monday night in Newark. Sources close to the investigation told the media that the 39-year-old woman was having her vehicle repaired and was sleeping with the mechanic, 59, as some form of "payment" for the hours of work he was putting in. "She's just a few feet away, she's laid out". When he went to investigate the source of the odor, he found both Hargrave and the man near the running vehicle. Medical crews on the scene pronounced the victims dead at the scene. Some noted that it was similar to another death late last year from Russian Federation, when a 15-year-old died while having sex inside a vehicle.

Johnson believes that his wife died of carbon monoxide poisoning, and criticized the apartment for not having proper alarm systems in the garage.

Johnson told WABC he blames the apartment complex. I can't do that, ' she said.

Johnson blamed the deaths on carbon monoxide poisoning.

The incident is under investigation but police said it appeared to be an accident.
