  • What's left of Tropical Storm Beryl has a 50 percent chance of redeveloping into a tropical depression over the next few days as it moves into the Bahamas

Tropical Storm Chris, which has been lingering off the North Carolina coast for several days, has finally begun to move northward, as well as develop the qualities of a hurricane.

"Movement was northeast at 2 miles per hour, with a central pressure of 993 millibars or 29.33" of mercury.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 kilometers) from the center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 kilometers). Chris will continue to gain speed and reach the Canadian province of Newfoundland late Thursday and will pass near Iceland this weekend.

IMPACTS FROM CHRISWhile Chris won't bring us any direct impacts, swells generated by the storm will affect coastal portions of the Carolinas and the mid-Atlantic states for a few more days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 105 miles per hour, and it will likely continue to strengthen through Wednesday morning.

Tropical Storm Chris is now tracking the East Coast of the United States and is set to cross the Atlantic to the UK.

The products include various food items, chemicals, minerals, tobacco, electronics and office goods. However, China has vowed to match every tariff tit-for-tat, and will likely follow through.

Hurricane Chris is forecast to continue on a northeast path parallel to the US Coastline before slowly deteriorating in the colder waters of the Atlantic.

On Thursday, a weak front will slowly back down the Carolina Coast and generate the Cape Fear Region's highest chance of showers and storms so far this week.

Environment Canada says the system, which should track near the southern Avalon Peninsula this evening as a post-tropical storm, is weakening.

Hurricane Chris continued to race out into the Atlantic Ocean on Wednesday. Rough seas and rip currents are forecast for the East Coast all week. Chris is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 1 to 3 inches (25 to 75 millimeters) over Newfoundland, with possible isolated maximum amounts of 6 inches (150 millimeters).
