Around 128 people, including Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) leader Siraj Raisani, were killed and over 150 injured in a deadly blast in Balochistan's Mastung district on Friday, said reports.

Nawabzada Siraj Raisani, who was campaigning for an assembly seat in the southern province of Balochistan, was killed in the bomb blast along with dozens of others, Balochistan Home Secretary Haider Ali Shikoh told CNN. Another senior official, Qaim Lashari, also confirmed it had been a suicide blast.

ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the Aamaq news agency.

Pakistan's caretaker government launched a crackdown on political gatherings on Friday as Sharif, who was ousted by the Supreme Court previous year and convicted in absentia of corruption a week ago, flew back to rally his party ahead of the general elections.

Siraj, the younger brother of former Balochistan chief minister Aslam Raisani, was attacked during a corner meeting organised for the promotion of his candidature.
