The former first family's son-in-law, retired Capt. Muhammad Safdar Awan, who was sentenced to a year in jail for abetting beside Sharif and Nawaz was arrested by NAB authorities Sunday evening from a rally meant to display PML-N's (Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz) power and showcase support of the masses in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
Safdar had gone into hiding following his conviction on July 6.
NAB officials took Safdar into custody after he appeared at a party rally in Rawalpindi.
She said, "People fly out of the country to evade punishment but we are returning to face it."Nawaz Sharif has set a new benchmark by offering his arrest", she said emphasising that their sacrifices will not go in vain as they will benefit the future generations".
According to the report, Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau (NAB) teams were heading to the venue to arrest Safdar.
Three cases were filed against Sharif and his family in September a year ago following his disqualification by the Supreme Court on July 28, 2017 in the Panama Papers case.
