Serena Williams won the point 87 percent of the time she landed her first serve in Thursday's semifinals.

The Duchess of Sussex will cheer on Serena Williams who has reached her 10th Wimbledon women's singles final - just ten months after almost dying during childbirth.

Serena Williams of the USA celebrates winning her semi-final match against Germany's Julia Goerges at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, London July 12, 2018. "We saw that she improved every single match she's playing here".

Williams, 36, will meet Angelique Kerber of Germany, who won earlier Thursday 6-3, 6-3 over Jelena Ostapenko.

Serena Williams will compete in an astounding 30th Grand Slam final on Saturday - her 10th at Wimbledon - and will match Margaret Court's all-time Slam title record of 24 with a win.

"I have to be ready for the match of my life", Williams said. "In case no one's told you yet today, I want to remind you that you are greater than your circumstances", she wrote two days out, as if aware she was building up to something worth commemorating. Following the baby's delivery, Williams had a number of health issues, including a pulmonary embolism and a hematoma, which led to her having multiple surgeries. Serving to stay in the match, Goerges lost the game in four short points, ending her Wimbledon run with a lob shot that flew long.

In each set Goerges was broken in the sixth game and she simply did not have the firepower or belief to stop the seven-times champion from surging to a 20th successive win on the hallowed turf.

Markle is good friends with Williams. "That's what I'm doing", Serena said.

By finishing second in the 35.5km team time-trial around Cholet , Team Sky did that with typical efficiency. We just wanted to get that stage.

Although Williams is back in the final, this still threatens to be an extraordinary Wimbledon.

Serena Williams is playing some of her best tennis, and she'll go for her eighth Wimbledon title on Saturday.

Extended bed rest followed. It was tough. There was a time where I could barely walk to my mailbox.

It was a process, as was reclaiming her movement, her timing and the power in her serve - particularly after injuring a pectoral muscle midway through the French Open.

She opened with a double fault and won the next point with a bludgeoning forehand of breathtaking audacity, a pattern that left the audience gasping at her free-flowing brilliance and then gasping again at her appalling blunders right through the game.

Leading 4-2, Williams powered into a one-set lead, breaking Goerges to love to move ahead. Goerges won just 53 percent (nine of 17). "It looks like she was never away".

"It's been a insane 10 months", Williams said. Really soak in the improbability of what the 23-time Grand Slam champion has accomplished so far this tournament.

Williams whose daughter Olympia was delivered by an emergency caesarean section on September 1, will play in the final, two months after taking a front row seat at Meghan's wedding in Windsor. "It's surgery - major abdominal surgery - and she had all these other complications". Williams is not shy about saying she, for one, is impressed by this. "And that's understating it".
