Astros send reliever Ken Giles down to Triple-A Fresno

  • HOUSTON TX- JULY 10 Manager AJ Hinch #14 of the Houston Astros takes the ball from Ken Giles #53 in the ninth inning against the Oakland Athletics at Minute Maid Park

Giles was not happy after manager A.J. Hinch took him out of the game after he allowed three hits to three straight batters to start the inning.

On Wednesday, the Astros demoted Giles, sending him to Triple A Fresno.

Hinch commented on the incident post-game. But, when Giles dropped the F-bomb on his way to the dugout on Tuesday night after ultimately giving up three runs in the bottom of the ninth, you could nearly hear the door closing on his career as an Astro. "He was pretty mad in the dugout".

"I did hear about it", he said, via the Houston Chronicle. He can let me know if it was directed at me. I'll have to look at it.

Iniesta's Vissel Kobe will meet Torres' Sagan Tosu in November
Both players might be fighting for different objectives, as Iniesta's new team are now in sixth place, while Torres' club are 17th out of 18.

"I did hear about it", Hinch told reporters. "It if turns out it was at me, we'll talk about it".

The Phillies traded Giles to the Astros in 2015 for a haul of pitchers Vince Velasquez, Thomas Eshelman, Brett Oberholtzer, Harold Arauz and former first overall pick Mark Appel.

Giles has had a tumultuous season so far with several poignant negative moments. The Cuban signed a $2 million contract with Houston in 2016 and has been sensational in Double-A, posting a 6-1 record with a 1.98 ERA and 1.11 WHIP while fanning 83 in 68.1 innings. He has allowed 17 runs all season in 34 appearances. It's a long season, as they say, and while tempers occasionally flare, it's happened too often for a guy who should be more angry at himself than the manager who yanked him from what was a stinker of an outing.

Perez, 22, has never pitched in an Major League Baseball game.
