Rescuers continued working to save seven more young soccer players and their coach in the second phase of the operation that saw four boys extracted Sunday.

The group was found nine days later in a cramped chamber 2.5 miles inside the cave system by two British volunteer rescue divers.

It is unclear which boys have been pulled out and which still remain in the cave.

Speaking a day after four boys were brought out from Luang cave, Prayuth said the operation's time frame is up to the provincial rescue command and he does not have the authority to interfere.

Narongsak said that there was no time limit on the rescue and that its progress would depend on weather and conditions inside the cave.

However he declined to specify when the second day's mission would be completed or how many members of the Mu Pa team members would be evacuated on Monday.

According to Jonathan Head, BBC's Southeast Asia Correspondent, divers will go back for the remaining four boys and their coach on Tuesday.

"Imagine marathon runners. It's like when they reach the finish line exhausted", said the source.

They are part of a youth soccer team known as the Wild Boars.

Efforts are expected to restart on Monday as low water levels in the cave have provided a brief window for a safer rescue.

The boys, whose names have not been revealed, are being treated at Chiang Rai Prachanukraw Hospital in Muang district.

Officials will have to spend about 20 hours preparing all the necessary support equipment, said the former governor, adding that he was confident the rescue team would be able to operate with greater ease and to shorten the time spent by between 4-5 hours.

This apparently takes the total number rescued to eight.

Four boys were brought to the surface on Sunday, more than two weeks after the group were trapped underground.

The eight boys brought out by divers over the previous two days were doing well and were in good spirits, a senior health official said.

Thirteen divers from around the world and five Thai Navy Seals are involved in the rescue operation.

Finally, the 13 were discovered deep inside the mountain, fleeing rising waters and depleting oxygen levels. But officials waited several hours before confirming their rescue. A few hours later, Michael Safi, a Guardian reporter, confirmed that the sixth boy had been rescued.

"I watch the news on my phone, my mom is watching on TV", said Chokumpompan, who graduated from the same school that six of the boys attend, Mae Si Prasitsart School.

Narongsak said rescuers would meet Monday evening to plan for the next operation.

On Friday, an experienced navy seal died while attempting to transport oxygen to the team in the treacherous caves.
