  • Rudy Gay will reportedly decline his $8.8 million player option with the San Antonio Spurs next season. More

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich traveled Tuesday to Southern California and met with Kawhi Leonard prior to Thursday's National Basketball Association draft, league sources told ESPN.

According to Yahoo Sports, the meeting between Popovich and Leonard had been planned for weeks and was not a direct response to Leonard's desire for a trade becoming public.

The Spurs are unlikely to be motivated to trade Leonard to the Lakers. It doesn't seem to be working, because the disgruntled superstar has privately maintained that he no longer wants to play for the San Antonio Spurs and wants to be traded.

It also says that Leonard told confidants he originally did not want to sit down with Popovich and that he has been intentionally hard to reach.

Eoin Morgan and England break records against Australia
The Poms smashed a world record 6/481 in the third ODI overnight, the highest score ever posted in an ODI by a fair distance. Once again it was spin that did the damage to Australia with England tweaker Adil Rashid taking 4-47 and Moeen Ali 3-28.

Midway through last season, after rehabbing his injury, Leonard was cleared to play by the Spurs medical staff, but he insisted on a second opinion from his own doctors and ended up spending the all-star break consulting a specialist and rehabbing further.

Leonard originally did not want to sit down with the Spurs coach, according to the report. He remains upset with the way teammate Tony Parker addressed his injury in the media and was not thrilled with how the team handled his physical recovery from his ailment.

Officially, the Spurs say their priority is to work through their issues with Leonard, but, according to sources, they have reached out to rival executives to see what potential offers they could get for the forward. He is eligible to sign a five-year, $219 million super maximum contract with the Spurs this summer.
