What Justin Trudeau said that made Donald Trump angry

  • Trump told Macron EU worse than China on trade

After a pre-summit meeting of G-7 finance ministers, in which Washington was rebuked by the other six members on June 2, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said that despite sharp disagreements on trade, the other countries remain "our most important allies".

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau takes part in a news conference in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, May 31, 2018.

Susan Collins says the two countries may have had their differences over the years when it comes to subsidies, but she stressed that Canada remains "a close ally, good friend and one of America's biggest trading partners".

The Trudeau government has announced it will impose dollar-for-dollar, retaliatory tariffs on metals and a range of other US products by July 1.

In a sign of how limited their options are, Canadian officials said they planned to press harder with their USA lobbying campaign, focused on potentially sympathetic lawmakers outside the White House, while relying on support from allied nations and hoping Trump does not carry out all his threats.

In a mocking tone, Kudlow rattled off the reasons Trudeau offered for his barbed critique of Trump's policies.

Larry Kudlow, Trump's chief economic adviser, told CNN that Trudeau's press conference addressing Trump's actions was "a betrayal".

There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad-faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door. He accused him of "sophomoric play" for insulting the United States during his press conference. He vented his sentiments on Twitter just minutes after Trudeau's announcement with a scathing invective calling his host "very dishonest & weak".

Square Enix’s E3 showcase was a bust
The video talks us through the new additions to Just Cause 4 , the most prominent of these being the extreme weather system. From the debut trailer, it seems like cutscenes will be in live-action, but the gameplay will look like a standard game.

"Justin has agreed to cut all tariffs, all trade barriers between Canada and the United States, so I'm very happy", Trump told reporters. "Minimum is 17B. Tax Dairy from us at 270%", he wrote in the first of five tweets relating to the weekend's summit.

Officially, the Trump administration used national security grounds to justify the tariffs, but Trump's clash with Canada may have more to do with a perceived personal slight than the facts of the bilateral relationship.

Updating the House of Commons on the G7 summit on her return from Canada, Mrs May said: "This was a hard summit with, at times, some very candid discussions".

Mr Trump's looming summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un heightened tension, and White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow accused Mr Trudeau of betraying Mr Trump with "polarising" statements on trade policy that risked making the U.S. leader look weak on the eve of the historic North Korea summit.

He said there's still hope that stalled negotiations for a modernized North American Free Trade Agreement can be revived, provided Canada stays calm and measured in response to Trump's rants.

He is urging US officials to focus on unfair trade practices, like steel dumping by China.

They welcomed stranded US travelers after the 9/11 attacks; they share the longest undefended border with the USA; and they have been our allies in the modern global security apparatus that Trump now wants to blow up.
