Curry is referencing last year's controversy when the Warriors declined an invitation the White House.

"I agree with Bron", Curry said Tuesday. "The way we handled things a year ago, we'd stay consistent with that". Curry and James shared their thoughts on the situation. It's no secret that either team are fans of Trump.

"I think we'll have the Caps, we'll see", Trump said outside the White House before departing for the G7 meeting in Quebec, two days after Caps standout winger Devante Smith-Pelly told Canada's National Post that he'd bail on any invite. After all, they didn't visit Trump last season either.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday urged the Washington Capitals to come to the White House to celebrate their Stanley Cup championship, but said the victor of the National Basketball Association title would not be invited. The president congratulated the team on Twitter earlier Friday. "U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain't going!" Earlier this week, the White House canceled a ceremony with the defending National Football League champions Philadelphia Eagles.

"What patriotism is is helping your fellow citizen and whether it's what [NBA player Kevin Durant is] doing or what we did when we visited Washington or what the Lynx are doing today, that's what patriotism is about". "We had the Pittsburgh Penguins past year".

"I think as long as he is in office, the communication and things like that are going to continue to happen", James said.

Trump said he would consider pardon applications submitted by players who have participated in protests during the anthem.

Ultimately, Trump noted, for the teams that reject him - the feeling's mutual.

"I didn't invite them", President Trump said.

"I didn't invite LeBron James, and I didn't invite Steph Curry", Trump told reporters.

Trump tweeted after the Capitals' victory: "Congratulations to the Washington Capitals on their GREAT play and winning the Stanley Cup Championship".

Will an National Basketball Association team visit the White House?

"Maybe it's just a tradition that needs to stop if everybody is going to be disinvited", Green said.

Before the team made an official decision, Trump announced they weren't welcome.
