Gmail for Android update adds customisable swipe actions

  • Choose your own swipe actions with the latest Gmail for Android

It appears Google isn't done making Gmail a lot more useful. Now the company has launched a new update for all Android users of Gmail; they can now customize the action of right and left swipe over any email in the inbox.

Swiping on an email within the Android app has archived that message no matter what, which may have been the best possible option for some users. Earlier Google updated its Gmail for desktop users; nearly everything was upgraded to a new level. Swiping has been a fixture of mobile email apps for years now, and many of these apps allow users to customize these gestures, something Google oddly hasn't been able to add into Gmail until recently. For instance, you can choose whether a right swipe archives a mail or marks it as read, The Verge reported.

Gmail's' new swipe options aren't extremely feature-rich, to be sure, but they're sufficient enough to get certain things done.

Kim summit: Singapore meeting between United States and North Korean leaders nears
Details were not shared about how the discussions have progressed so far and Trump and Kim have yet to meet face-to-face. The talks are expected to be devoted to the future of Pyongyang's nuclear program and the lifting of economic sanctions.

Setting up snooze on the Gmail app.

However we suppose this could still come in handy for users who might be left/right handed and might prefer to use the left/right swipes for different actions than what's being offered in the default settings.
