Trump withdraws endorsement of G7 joint statement, slams 'weak' Trudeau

  • Trump Attacks Trudeau, Macron, Allies Ahead of G7 Summit: 'Won't Be Talking About the Russian Witch Hunt Hoax for a While'

He said Trump had done Trudeau the "courtesy" of traveling to the summit when "he had other things, bigger things on his plate", referring to Trump's June 12 summit with North Korean ruler Kim Jong-un.

At issue are USA tariffs against Canada and Trudeau's effort to retaliate against its neighbor - as well as Trudeau's comment to reporters that all seven leaders had come together to sign a joint declaration after the G-7 meeting.

President Donald Trump took more swipes at Canada and its prime minister over trade issues as he settled in for a summit with North Korea in Singapore, contending that "Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal".

Clearly, Mr. Trump saw things differently. Can't do it in person. "He's a pathetic little man-child". "I have made it clear to the president that [imposing retaliatory tariffs] is not something we relish doing, but it's something that we absolutely will do". But the summit host, Trudeau, whose nation was among those singled out by Trump, pushed back and said he would not hesitate to retaliate against his neighbor to the south.

In a tense interview today with CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union", Trump's economic advisor Larry Kudlow lambasted Trudeau. "That will not stand". "To my friends in Canada, that was one of the worst political miscalculations of a Canadian leader in modern Canadian history".

When Tapper asked if Trump was planning any payback for Trudeau's comments, Kudlow said he wasn't aware of any further moves.

Other tweets speculated about why the Canadian prime minister would need to don fake eyebrows. It also says the countries will work to promote low or no tariffs in order to promote trade between them. From promoting democracy and to fighting terrorism, "we're on the same page".

Pep Guardiola brands Yaya Toure's accusation 'a lie'
Numerous players have come out in support of Guardiola since Toure's comments and now the manager himself has finally responded. Toure won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups during an eight-year spell at the Etihad.

A few hours earlier, Trudeau had told reporters that all seven leaders had come together to sign the joint declaration.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday threw the G7's efforts to show a united front into disarray after he became angry with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and said he might double down on import tariffs by hitting the sensitive auto industry. His tweet also accused the prime minister of being "dishonest and weak", and claimed that he only placed tariffs on aluminum and steel in response to Canada's "270% on dairy!"

The Trump administration confirmed on May 31 it would apply additional tariffs on steel and aluminium imports from Canada, Mexico and European Union countries, ending a two-month exemption period.

The president's team asserted that Trump and his team had agreed to the Communique in good faith, but now it is unclear what trade agreement will be reached amongst the coalition. "Tariffs will come way down", Trump said.

Mr. Trump insisted relationships with allies were a "10" just before he left the summit.

Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California appeared after Kudlow on the same program and called Trump's decision to not sign the communique a "mistake".
