The Tony ceremony was marked by politically pointed speeches - none more sharp than that by actor Robert De Niro, who dropped a couple of F-bombs while referring to President Trump, which were bleeped out by CBS.

Many congrats to Stachel on his first Tony win!

The two-part spectacle "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" captured six, including best play, book, lighting, sound design, orchestrations and director for John Tiffany, who asked the crowd to sing "Happy Birthday" to his boyfriend.

Nathan Lane, Broadway's No. 1 musical-comedy actor for years, can now make the claim that he's Broadway's No. 1 dramatic actor, too, picking up the Tony for his chilling and brilliant performance as Roy Cohn, Donald Trump's lawyer, in "Angels in America".

The show also won best actor and best actress for its stars, Tony Shalhoub and Katrina Lenk, and best original score for David Yazbek.

The Band's Visit marks Stachel's Broadway debut.

Fans Left Outraged At 'Farcical' Tyson Fury Comeback Fight
The contest at times resembled a pantomine with Fury gurning and throwing his arms into the air through much of the opening round. But it (the retirement) happened and it wasn't my fault that they pulled him out.

"Thanks for making me so welcome on your block", Springsteen said, accepting his award for his phenomenally successful solo show.

De Niro appeared on stage at New York's Radio City Music Hall to introduce rocker and Tony Awards performer Bruce Springsteen. The smart bet was that Broadway would give her a Tony for her script.

The revival of "Carousel" won two awards - choreography and for Lindsay Mendez, who won best featured actress in a musical.

Best Boat Quote: "All four of tonight's best musical nominees are based on movies", said Tina Fey, "But only one of these movies paid for my boat".

Jackson, 82, returning to Broadway after 30 years and a lengthy term as a British politician, was named best actress for her tour-de-force performance in Edward Albee's "Three Tall Women".

The "deplorables" who voted for Trump probably were not watching the Tony Awards. She told the crowd how early in her career, she'd been encouraged to change her last name to Matthews to better her chances of playing non-minority roles. She concluded: "To all the artists out there, be your true self and the world will take note".
