Final preparations are underway in Singapore for Tuesday's historic summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"Thanks PM Lee for spending $20 million of taxpayers money, which can. help a lot of needy families in Singapore to survive", posted one Facebook user.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Mr. Trump and the entire USA team was looking forward to Tuesday's summit.

Korean Studies Institute director David Kang said: "The most we can hope to get out of this is that Kim and Trump find that they can have some working relationship".

Kim traveling on a separate plane from his sister also adds another layer of security, North Korean researcher Christopher Green told NK News.

Against the backdrop of Mount Paektu, a dormant volcano symbolising Korean nationhood, she said Kim had met Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore's prime minister, and would hold talks with President Donald Trump.

Kim arrived in Singapore aboard an Air China 747 that, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24, took off from Pyongyang Sunday morning ostensibly bound for Beijing, then changed its flight number midair and headed south.

While en route to Singapore, Trump said he looked forward to meeting Kim on what he anticipated would be an exciting day.

President Trump expressed confidence about his meeting upon his arrival in Singapore Sunday, telling reporters after stepping down from Air Force One that he his feeling "very good" about Tuesday's summit.

Trump admin: We won't defend Obamacare
O'Connor issued an order on May 16 that grants California and other states that support the ACA official intervenor status. In a blistering statement , the American Psychiatric Association is calling on the administration to reverse its decision.

In March, Trump surprised the world by accepting an invitation from Kim to meet in person.

But the two leaders also share some parallels.

Still, even as he turned his attention to the summit, Trump continued his blistering attacks on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Monday, saying "Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal".

He said the USA would be satisfied with nothing less than the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula - with verification the key part of any deal.

"A successful summit might also open the door to some confidence-building measures, such as the opening of a US diplomatic office in North Korea and vice versa, or the resumption of USA missions to recover the remains of Korean War service members killed in North Korea", Wertz said.

The commemorative coin issued ahead of the US-North Korea Summit. A pin on their lapels depicted the two former North Korean leaders, Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, Kim Jung Un's grandfather and father. However, the South Carolina Republican noted that he is "not here to spread democracy" or to unite the North with South Korea.

Since then, US and North Korean diplomats have been trying to bridge the gap between the two countries' definition of denuclearization. For the North Korean leader to be willing to agree to the United States president's conditions on denuclearisation, there need to be inducements and assurances offered to Pyongyang.

But just a year ago, Trump described the North Korean leader as "little rocket man", and warned of a US military attack full of "fire and fury". Despite that, "we're going in with a very positive spirit" and "I think very well prepared".

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said U.S. and North Korean officials would hold working-level talks on Monday.

Officials who arrived with Trump include Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Adviser John Bolton, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders. Trump and Kim come from very different backgrounds and ideologies, and at 71, Trump is about twice as old as the North Korean leader.
