It remains to be confirmed the exact reasoning behind the sudden collapse of Fekir's transfer, but should it be that Liverpool sought a cheaper price at the 11th hour given the Frenchman's past injuries, it appears unlikely to please the Anfield faithful.

"Transfer negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the captain of OL have not succeeded and Olympique Lyonnais have chose to put an end to this negotiation tonight at 8pm", Lyon said in a statement on their official website on Saturday night.

Le Graet, speaking in Lyon a few hours before France played the United States in a World Cup warm up game in the city, said: "These are negotiations".

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is notoriously tough in transfer business but it is my understanding the deal has not fallen down because Liverpool tried to renegotiate the terms of the deal.

Time for Liverpool fans to move on. He joins the list alongside the likes of Naby Keita and Fabinho with the Reds still being expected to continue their spending spree this summer.

Nabil Fekir is soon to be a Red!

Rafael Nadal into French Open finals against Dominic Thiem
Rafael Nadal is now just the second man to reach 11 finals at the same Slam, equalling Roger Federer's mark at Wimbledon. Schwartzman compiled a 20-4 edge in winners for the set, closing it with a forehand that landed right at the baseline.

His 18 goals were tied for fifth-most in Ligue 1 last season, and his 8 assists were tied for 6th-most, according to WhoScored.

Klopp may wait until after the World Cup to sign the 24-year-old, which always represents a risk, given an impressive tournament would see his fee rise.

Liverpool won't be renewing their pursuit of Fekir and will now look for other targets.

Meanwhile, Shaka Hislop still thinks Liverpool will be successful regarding Fekir. He was Ligue 1's second best dribbler past year, which is a no mean feat considering the fact that the French top flight boasts some of the best up-and-coming dribblers.

With Nabil Fekir-to-Liverpool all but done, Julien Laurens describes what kind of player he is and where he'd be best suited in Jurgen Klopp's XI.
