Redmond O'Neal was also charged on Friday for a number of other crimes in connection to a violent spree in Southern California, Los Angeles police said. They filed one count of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of criminal threats, one count of brandishing a knife and one count of battery. Two stabbings, one near the Venice Beach Boardwalk, including one that left a victim in a pool of his own blood with wounds to his head. He also was charged with possession of a smoking device, possession of an injection device and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Police said they arrested O'Neal because he matched witnesses' descriptions of a man with red ahir and facial tattoos and security footage.

O'Neal is accused of stabbing a Venice man in the side on Monday and for allegedly stabbing another man numerous times in the nearby area later that night.

Police say O'Neal was later found on the street carrying cash and a knife. And with this particular crime, Redmond allegedly left fingerprints at the scene, which helped authorities identify him as a suspect.

The spree came to an end on May 8 when O'Neal was arrested for armed robbery at a convenience store in Santa Monica, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

Redmond previously pled not guilty to all charges and was denied bail by a judge. Scotty Steven told KABC.

Authorities have not released a motive and said the crimes seem random, but it may have started as an argument between unknown people. His attorney, Nina E. Daly, appeared in court and asked the judge for more time because O'Neal is trying to hire a doctor, who will evaluate his mental competency to stand trial.

He has a lengthy history of trouble the law involving drug possession.

The troubled son of actors Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett has been charged with attempted murder.

Fawcett, a former star of TV's "Charlie's Angels", died of cancer at age 62 in 2009. He was then sentenced to three years in state prison in 2015 for violating his probation and was released early in 2016.
