  • 70-year-old Kenny Loggins will reimagine Danger Zone with a new artist for the Top Gun 2 soundtrack

Prior to his suicide in 2012, Tony Scott - who directed the 1986 Top Gun movie - had started developing a follow-up adventure for Maverick with Tom Cruise.

The love/hate relationship between Maverick and Iceman will continue in Top Gun 2. Last month, Tom Cruise confirmed that he was coming back for the Top Gun sequel, Maverick.

Iceman and Maverick (Tom Cruise) had a frosty, adversarial relationship in Top Gun, vying for ace pilot status at the legendary military flight school. The actor will be reprising his iconic character of Pete Maverick Mitchell.

Macron calls on G7 members to confront Trump’s trade policies
They may also seek redress through legal action at the World Trade Organization. Macron has previously accused China of pursuing hegemony in Asia.

THR's story reiterated Cruise's revelation from just over a year ago that the sequel's official title is Top Gun: Maverick instead of Top Gun 2. It also starred Kelly McGillis, Anthony Edwards, and Tom Skerritt in pivotal roles. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously outlined that the film will deal with the rise of unmanned drones and pilots becoming a thing of the past.

No word yet if Kenny Loggins will return to the Danger Zone to provide for the soundtrack. There's no word if other cast members from the 1986 film will join the sequel. But if you're looking for some more returning names from the first film, Harold Faltermeyer is composing the score and will hopefully be bringing a large helping of nostalgia.

The Paramount movie, which hits theaters next summer on July 12, 2019 and is now in production in San Diego, follows fighter pilots who are entangled in a drone-driven airspace which has made their flying obsolete.
