Putin addresses election meddling, possibility of third world war

  • Inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin

Putin, speaking on a visit to Austria on Tuesday, said the restrictions are "harmful for everyone - those who initiated them and those who are targeted by them".

"Indeed, Donald Trump and I have, firstly, met a few times at various worldwide venues and secondly, we regularly talk over the phone", Putin said, according to the official transcript the Kremlin released online.

In remarks to Austrian TV channel ORF on Monday, Putin also said he "fully agreed" with Trump on the possibility of a new arms race between the two nations, but hoped they could head it off, CNN reported.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visits Austria today, his last friend among the western European EU states, for talks with Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and President Alexander Van der Bellen.

In February, Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russians for allegedly impersonating Americans and contacting "unwitting" Trump campaign officials in an attempt to tilt the 2016 election in Trump's favor. "And secondly, we regularly talk over the phone".

"How low the Western information and political environment has fallen if a restaurateur from Russian Federation could influence elections in the United States or a European country", the Russian Federation leader said.

The "traditional question" of Putin's eventual successor came up, to which the 65-year-old said he wouldn't be anointing the next president.

Washington Capitals win first Stanley Cup in franchise history
The teams traded power plays early in the second, with Theodore tripping Oshie and Christian Djoos high-sticking Reilly Smith . Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby has a 1.67 goals-against average and.945 save percentage the past three games.

Putin, who easily won re-election in March, has since 2001 used the annual phone-in to cast himself as a decisive troubleshooter on the home front and a staunch defender of Russia's global interests.

'You have just said that Mr Prigozhin is referred to as 'Putin's chef, ' Putin said.

Putin had another "I told you so" message for Russian businessmen, saying he had previously warned them about the risks of keeping their assets overseas and that they were now being persecuted by countries such as Britain.

He will attend a business conference with envoys from both countries.

Putin had been asked about the visa problems being experienced by billionaire Roman Abramovich in Britain.

More surprisingly, Putin said that he deploys informal terms when talking to Emmanuel Macron, despite what must have been several tense conversations over sanctions and Syria in the past year.

There were no questions about Russian interference in the 2016 USA presidential race, but Putin brought up the subject. "The State Department will say that it has nothing to do with them - rather it is Mr Soros" private affair. Are you satisfied with it?'
