Leicester City are reportedly set to challenge Liverpool for the Stoke City man's signature.

Transfer season is in full swing and a number of reports today are suggesting that Liverpool are on the verge of the shock signing Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City.

Shaqiri scored eight goals and made seven assists in 36 appearances in the Premier League last season as the Swiss playmaker was unable to help Stoke avoid relegation to the Championship.

Donaldson said of Shaqiri: "Liverpool fans on message boards are saying "great player, great skill but Jurgen Klopp's whole ethos is about working hard and running".

Shaqiri has a £13 million release clause in his contract which can be activated after Stoke were relegated and despite attracting interest across the continent, the winger would "love to stay in England".

According to various reports - all featuring confirmations from the singer's rep - the babies in the photo are not Sir and Rumi . The never-before-seen video was followed by a message reading " This is real love " flashing on screen.

However, the Daily Telegraph is also of the understanding that another Premier League side would like to add the 26-year-old to their roster.

Liverpool are chasing several high-profile attackers, but Rowett has confirmed if the Reds make a suitable bid for Shaqiri then the club will grant a sale.

The Reds have one of the most formidable front three's in Europe but they need back-up for the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane and it looks like Klopp is eyeing Shaqiri an an alternative to Nabil Fekir, with Lyon digging their heels in over the Frenchman.

Shaqiri will be hoping to produce a strong display at the World Cup in Russian Federation to spark a bidding war for his signature.
